Why is Hencote no longer open for à la carte dining?

Like many in the hospitality industry, we took time at the start of 2026 to reflect carefully on how Hencote can be at its very best, and most importantly, how we can be here for our guests for years to come. The reality is that the traditional à la carte restaurant model has become increasingly challenging across the UK, and we made the considered decision to move away from it in favour of something we know works: well-organised events, curated dining experiences, and memorable occasions set in the heart of our beautiful Shropshire vineyard.

This was not a decision taken lightly, but it was the right one. Our sold-out events throughout 2025 showed us clearly what our guests value most: great wine, exceptional food, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere that only Hencote can offer. By focusing entirely on this events-led model, we can dedicate our full attention and passion to creating experiences that are truly special, rather than simply keeping a restaurant open.

Hencote remains very much open and very much alive. You can still join us for wine tasting experiences, seasonal dining events, Bottomless Brunches, private celebrations, weddings, corporate hire, and our full calendar of seasonal occasions, including Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Christmas, and New Year. We look forward to welcoming you as part of the next chapter of Hencote’s story.

Is there parking at Hencote?

Yes, Hencote has ample on-site parking available for guests, making it easily accessible whether you are travelling from Shrewsbury (we are 1.3 miles from the town centre), across Shropshire, or further afield from the West Midlands and beyond. Hencote is also just a short distance from Shrewsbury Railway Station, which has direct rail links to Birmingham, Manchester, and London.

Yes. Hencote has its own on-site large, luxury accommodation for up to 28 people, allowing guests to make a full experience of their visit. Staying overnight is the perfect complement to an evening event, a wine tasting, or a private celebration, meaning no one has to cut the evening short.
