Where We Are
Hencote Estate may be tucked away in rural Shropshire but is less than a 10-minute drive from the county town of Shrewsbury. Our locality provides many interesting places to explore for lovers of culture, history or the outdoors.
Shrewsbury Town Centre
Despite our secluded location, we are less than 2 miles from Shrewsbury Town centre, where you can explore the timber-framed Tudor buildings and alleyways with an enviable collection of independent shops, restaurants and old public houses.
For an amazing view across Shrewsbury climb the walls of the Shrewsbury Castle first built during the reign of William the Conqueror.
Step back in time at the National Trust owned Attingham Park, to the beautiful 18th Century mansion estate steeped in history. Learn about the historic mansions restoration or enjoy a trek through the parkland on the Mile Walk and Deer Park, 400 acres created to allow wild fallow deer to roam freely.
Relax in the Walled Garden originally created in the 1780s. Attingham Park promises a wonderful day out for history and nature enthusiasts. There is an on-site café and restaurant and an outdoor children’s play area.
For the culturally inclined, Theatre Severn in the town centre offers a wide variety of entertainment including comedy, drama, musicals and exhibitions. Tickets are available online but Hencote would be more than happy to make the arrangements on your behalf.
The most beautiful place.
