Afternoon tea is a tradition in Britain and its roots date back as far as the early nineteenth century.
It was during this time that Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford complained of a ‘sinking’ feeling during the late afternoon. The solution was simple, a pot of light tea and a snack to be taken privately in her boudoir.
Since then afternoon tea has become a staple part of the modern British menu and at Hencote we’ve created our very own.
Our talented kitchen team has lovingly handcrafted a delicate range of sandwiches, patisserie and scones accompanied by homemade preserves and clotted cream.
Delights include Smoked Salmon & Fromage Blanc, Hencote Garden Carrot Cake, Cream Cheese Frosting and Blackberry Macaroon.
The Hencote afternoon tea will be available to pre-book from February 6th and will run from Thursday to Sunday 2 pm – 4 pm – reservation required.
